DIY VeneerThe art of gluing and or attaching a thin layer of material to another. DIY Veneers consist of several types, styles and products. The act of adhesion is a easy task to perform, so many of us can do this. Wooden veneers are considerably cheaper than the solid piece of timber it’s been cut from. Typical veneers are from 1/16″ to 1/8″ inches and can be bought in 4×8 sheets as well as flitches these are the widths of material on faces of doors or plywood to create the appearance of any wood finish from nature IE Birch, Cherry, Oak, Birdseye Maple etc. Different adhesives have been used and still contact cement is an efficient product depending on the material. Laminates such as Formica can be bought in sheets and reproduce an entire counter top surface with many clors and patterns to chose from. Also flat slab drawer and cabinet door fronts can be refaced and achieving a bright new vibrant outlook in any kitchen. Stone Veneers : Have been very popular for years in the sense of post fireplace brick and mortar, the more costly stone veneers are methodically place on the surface for any look, design or pattern that can be imagined. |
