The roof rafters then set next to each joist on layout and span up to the ridge beam or 2x, cut at the applicable plumb cut there and a seat or birds mouth cut below on the wall. With standard 4×8-1/2″, 3 ply, plywood sheathing gets nailed to the rafters on top and staggered as to no end seams will be continuous, to create the roof.
